Steve Sawyer
Over the past 20 years, Steve Sawyer has had a checkered career. He has worked as a marketing manager and software developer for a small manufacturer, director of development for a company producing medical practice management software and director of technology for a business software development company. He partnered with two other software developers for several years to form and run a business software development company. As a consultant/virtual CEO, he worked on launching a technology startup founded by a Michigan Community College. In recent years he has worked with several non-profit organizations involved with mentoring and coaching high-technology startups seeking private equity investment.
For the past year, he has worked as a database analyst and architect first for Ogilvy & Mather advertising, and later for Wunderman Interactive/TeamDetroit, both subsidiaries of the WPP group, one of the world's largest communications services groups, employing 97,000 people working in over 2,000 offices in 106 countries. His work involves developing processes (and Visual FoxPro Programs) to ensure data integrity for a major direct marketing initiative on behalf of one of the company's major clients, Ford Motor Company.
